Mt. Veeder Vineyard

Mt. Veeder is a unique and historic viticulture district located in the southeast portion of the Mayacamas Mountains, which divide Napa and Sonoma Counties.  The terrain is created by the influence of altitude, the cooling marine air of the bay and a mix of volcanic and sedimentary clay soils. These qualities combine to create a very specific viticultural region that yields LaTours' unique multifaceted wines. The Mt. Veeder vineyard is located near the Oakville Cross Road. The appellation encompasses 25 miles of some of the steepest vineyards and the most remote wineries in California, at the heart of which stands the 2,677 foot-high volcanic peak of Mt Veeder. The region averages between 35 – 50 inches of precipitation per year, and several special climatic conditions provide the vines with a long, cool, even ripening period.

Napa Valley Heritage Clone Chardonnay:  Planted in 1999, this wine comes from a very popular rootstock called the Hyde Clone.  These younger vines planted on the Mt. Veeder property have a unique and fresh Chardonnay taste – worthy of standing on it’s own.  “If you are a lover of white Burgundy – especially from the Puligny-Montrachet area – you will adore this Chardonnay.  Pear, melon and vanilla bean aromas complement the ultra-smooth texture making it the definition of suave.”
